AFC Telford United are the hosts on Saturday as Bradford Park Avenue aim to stay out of the relegation zone.

It is another big clash at the bottom of the Vanarama National League North, with both sides in relegation danger but Avenue sat three points behind their opponents.

Bradford’s defeat to Stalybridge on Tuesday leaves them looking over their shoulder with just one point separating Mark Bower’s side and third-bottom Gainsborough Trinity.

It was a third loss in a row for Bower, who had previously picked up the Manager of the Month award for a perfect February.

On Tuesday, Avenue did manage to score more than two league goals in a game for only the fourth time this season, with Wayne Brooksby netting his first goal since joining on loan from Harrogate Town.

Midfielder Nicky Wroe rattled in an excellent volley to net his fifth goal of the season, joining Chris Sharp as Bradford’s joint top scorer.

Earlier in the season, the sides played out a 1-1 draw, in Avenue’s only stalemate since the third game of the season, and Bower’s first point in charge.

Sharp opened the scoring for Avenue just after half time before Telford levelled straight from kick-off, Ben Bailey netting for Saturday’s hosts.

Top scorer for United is Josh Wilson, the former Halifax forward netted his eighth goal of the season last Saturday as they went down 2-1 at Chorley.

Forward Lee Hughes has scored two goals in four games since moving to the New Bucks Head but has missed the last two games through injury.

Telford have former Avenue midfielder Jack Rea amongst their ranks, while Sharp spent just over a year with the Bucks, scoring 11 goals in the 2011-12 Conference season following his move from The New Saints.

Shane Killock also lined up for Telford, helping them reach the Conference before making 35 appearances alongside Sharp in non-league’s top flight.

Jake Hibbs also spent a month on loan with the Bucks, who this season have taken seven of their eight wins on their home ground. However Avenue are better away from home, having claimed six of their nine victories on their travels.

Due to goal difference, a win is unlikely to see Avenue move up in the table, but it would put them level on points with Telford.
