10-man Bradford Park Avenue let slip a one-goal lead as Southport climbed to the top of the table with a 2-1 victory at thee Horsfall Stadium.

Adam Boyes netted the first goal of an entertaining match, firing in after Javan Vidal had played the ball across the six-yard box on the end of a good move.

However Southport grew into the game and equalised just before the half-hour as Drench spilled a shot and the defence couldn’t clear, left back Andrew White rifling home from 18-yards.

Avenue were dealt a huge blow on the hour mark as Vidal was shown a straight red card for a two-footed lunge on goalscorer White.

And with just one minute on the clock, the visitors used the extra space to work their winner. Yves Zama found a gap on the right and his low cross found Gary Roberts whose shot was just too powerful for Drench to keep out.
