A four-figure crowd was in attendance at the Horsfall Stadium to see York City put five past Bradford Park Avenue.
The visitors opened the scoring inside five minutes as an unmarked Daniel Parslow headed home from Louis Almond’s free kick.
The Minstermen grabbed their second in slightly fortuitous fashion, as a goal kick cannoned into the path of Amari Morgan-Smith and the winger finished neatly over Steven Drench.
Morgan-Smith was on hand to grab his second and York’s third when Drench saved well from Almond’s effort, but the ball fell straight to the City number 10 who made no mistake.
Almond was involved again for the fourth as he crossed low across the face of goal leaving Sean Newton with the simplest of tasks to seal the three points just half an hour in.
The pace of the game slowed in the second half, but visiting York made it five as Almond delivered a cracking cross which Luca Havern inadvertently headed into his own goal.
York were however reduced to 10 men on 73 minutes as Hamza Bencherif picked up his second yellow card of the match, pulling back Adam Boyes who was on the attack.
Both sides in fact ended the match with 10 men as Adam Nowakowski was forced off with a head injury after Avenue had used all three substitutions.
