Bradford Park Avenue have made two further additions ahead of the season opener at Tamworth tomorrow.
Attackers Cameron Lyn and Lee Knight have signed with the club, following successful trial periods.
Pacey winger Lyn made his first pre-season appearance in the away match against former club Ossett Town, and has come off the bench in every warm-up game since.
The former Leeds United and Sheffield United youngster has featured for a number of non-league clubs in the area, including Brighouse Town, Harrogate Railway and most recently Ossett Albion.
With the games set to come thick and fast as the National League North season gets underway at the weekend, Avenue boss Mark Bower was pleased to add the two fresh but familiar faces to his squad.
“Cammy trained with us a bit late last season,” Bower said.
“It was difficult to do anything at the time so we invited him back for pre-season so we could have a bit more of a look at him.
“He didn’t come back until a couple of weeks in so we’ve not quite had the chance to give him as much game time as we would probably have liked.
“But he is a real bright spark, and offers us something a little bit different to what we currently have.
“We feel he’s got something that gives us a little bit more variety in the forward positions.
“The ball is in his court, we have plenty of games coming up so he will get his opportunity to show what he’s about.
“He’s got an excellent character as well, he’s brilliant to have in the dressing room, always demanding the ball off people in training too.
“You can certainly hear him from the sidelines so he is an excellent addition to complement the players that we’ve already got.”
Striker Knight also first played in green and white at Ossett, netting the only goal of the game with a brilliant flick, turn and strike on the edge of the box.
The young forward joins the club having been released by League One side Oldham Athletic, and spent the majority of last season on loan at Ashton United.
While he has operated as a central striker in his pre-season appearances, Knight is equally comfortable operating as a wide man.
“We were looking for that younger striker to work alongside what we’ve already got in terms of forward options,” Bower said.
“We’ve got quite a lot of experience in the squad, and Lee is another young player who can come in and really learn from that.
“He’s got a really good attitude and not just done well in games, but has shown up really well in training.
“He’s got some really good habits in his game as a centre forward, getting hold of the ball and trying to do the right thing, showing he can finish as well when he gets the chance.
“Lee has a lot of potential and like Jamie Spencer, he is another who can learn off the players around him.
“He will get chances to prove himself as the season goes on, and hopefully he grabs them with both hands.
“As I said with Jamie, the challenge is there for Lee to get games under his belt and look to work his way back up the ladder, hopefully as far as possible with us, but ultimately to keep moving upwards.
“And as a club, if we can give players the platform to do that, we can help them as they help us.
“Lee is a player who has that aim in front of him, so hopefully he has a successful season and gets a few goals under his belt.”
