Following the 3-3 draw against Oxford City, John Deacey gave his opinion on the game.

The Avenue manager was unhappy with the first half performance:

“The first half was a disgrace. It was the worst performance I’ve seen from Bradford (Park Avenue) while I’ve been in charge.”

However, Deacey praised the effort of his players in the second half:

“We showed great character and fantastic team spirit. The eleven in the second half were superb.”

After the game, the Avenue manager took credit for his decision to change formation with ten men:

“It took the manager to get us out of trouble. I thought I was brave to put three in defence, four in midfield and two up front, I will take the praise for that because the first half they were a disgrace to put on a shirt for Bradford (Park Avenue).”

Ahead of the trip to Worcester City, Deacey admits improvement is needed to win their first game of the season:

“We can only improve because some of the football is well short of the standard we require.”
