Bradford Park Avenue’s Academy commence their season next week, with a handful of friendlies also arranged.

That Academy project, run in partnership with Grange Technology College, is moving into its second year after its formation in 2016.

The new first years will commence teaching at the school, along with the returning second years, on Monday 4 September, the date of the first game in the Northern U19 Alliance League.

Alex Meechan’s side get the campaign underway with a trip to AFC Emley on Monday evening, the match kicking off at 7.45pm.

However that is not before a couple of friendly matches for Meechan’s men.

First up on Wednesday (30 August) is a match against Pathway 2 Pro Academy, with a 1.30pm kick-off on Grange’s 3G pitch.

Then on Friday (1 September) Avenue welcome the West Riding FA under-18s side to Grange for a friendly, kicking off at 7.30pm.

After the Emley match, FC Halifax Town’s under-18s will visit Grange for a friendly, kicking off at 7.30pm.

Admission to all friendlies is free, but donations are welcome.

Despite the school year not starting until next week, training is already well underway for Academy players new and old, with Meechan and coach Matt Hill putting the players through their paces over the last few weeks ahead of the start of the new campaign.

Avenue will once again compete in two leagues, the Northern U19 Alliance League (West Division) and the English Colleges FA League (Yorkshire and Humber – Invitation League 2B).
