Three players from Bradford Park Avenue’s Academy will join the first team for the opening pre-season friendly at Campion tomorrow.

Goalkeeper Alfie Stevens-Neale, defender Lewis Johnson and attacker Andre Tavernier will join Mark Bower’s first team squad for the trip to Campion on Tuesday.

It is a story of great success for the all-new Academy set-up, which has just come to the end of its first year.

“Alfie, Lewis and Andre have been involved in some of the early first team pre season training sessions and may play a part in some of the friendly games,” Bower said.

“They have shown the right attitude and some real potential in their performances so far and it highlights the great work that has been going on in the Academy set up in a relatively short space of time.

“We hope to have further academy players training with the first team squad throughout the season to aid their development, and now the challenge is there for them to continue to progress and force their way in to the first team squad.”

Bower’s squad returned to training last Tuesday, a week before the opening friendly at Manningham Mills.

Six trialists are expected to feature as Avenue are likely to field two entirely different teams in each half.

Admission to the match at Campion is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions, with under-16s free with an accompanying adult.

The club are still inviting applications to join the Academy, in partnership with Grange Technology College, starting in September of this year. To find out more, please click here.
